SIXTH FORM COUNCIL
Many aspects of Sixth Form life are co-ordinated by the Senior Prefect team which is elected by students each year and which runs the Sixth Form Council. This group helps to shape policies for the Sixth Form, plan improvements to the Sixth Form centre and run the social events. The Senior Prefects organise charity events and oversee the very popular RAG week each Spring Term which sees a week of themed events to raise money for the students' chosen charities.

SOCIAL EVENTS
As well as working hard, Howard students like to enjoy themselves. The community spirit is very evident at events such as the Christmas Ball, last year held at the Burford Bridge Hotel and the memorable Leavers' Prom in the Grandstand of Epsom Downs race course.

SPORT, MUSIC & DRAMA
The Howard Sixth Form fields teams in a number of different sports. It is also frequently home to national and international level sports men and women across a range of events from athletics to football and judo to water polo. For those who take their sport less seriously we have informal opportunities to play, such as in the five-a-side football league and a fun sports day. There is a fully-equipped fitness suite that on site that is available for Sixth Form students to use for a very small annual fee.

CHARITIES AND RAG WEEK
RAG provides an opportunity for fancy dress (some don't need much encouragement at all) but also a chance to focus on the needs of others. Money is raised for local, national and international charities, chosen by the students. Whilst RAG week is the main charity focus, there are many more events throughout the year such as the Save the Children Christmas Jumper day and enthusiastic support for national events such as Red Nose Day or Children in Need.

CAREERS AND GUIDANCE
Whether you want to be a super-hero or whether your ambitions are more mainstream, the Sixth Form team will provide information and guidance to help you achieve your ambitions. The Sixth Form tutorial programme is designed around the needs of Sixth Form students. Sessions are held several times a week in Year 12 whilst the Year 13 programme revolves around an individual weekly meeting with your form tutor to check that you are on-track with your studies and to help you with the next steps for your career. This might be support with choosing university courses, drafting your personal statement, completing an application for an apprenticeship or developing your interview skills. We also draw on a range of additional specialists to ensure that everyone is well supported - from applying to the most competitive universities such as Oxford or Cambridge, to developing your employability skills or applying for an Art Foundation course.
