Parental Donations
Each year we invite you as parents or carers to make a small donation to Howard of Effingham School.
As The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) has charitable status, your donations can be made directly to the school. THPT will be able to claim gift aid. Previously your generous donations have come via the Charitable Trust.
The donations are a way that you, as parents/carers, can help to enrich the lives of all pupils in a tax efficient way. We use the money to help improve the facilities and resources available to all pupils by buying the extras which the school is not able to fund. Requests come from all Departments and Year Teams within the School.
Over recent years we have been able to fund:
- A laser reflection tank and laser pointers for Science
- High quality microphones for Media for coursework, podcasts and extra-curricular activities
- 3D geometrical shapes and coloured counters for Maths to run practical experiments
- LCD TV for Science to display students work and faculty information
- Furniture for the 6th Form common room
- Lights, stands and control box for Drama essential to the Department
- Whole Year group curriculum support for English via Poet and Shakespeare workshops
- Modern foreign language magazine/journal subscriptions to support the curriculum
- Drama Puppets to support group productions
- Microphones and webcams for English spoken word filming
- Student Wellbeing and Mental Health resources
- A 3D printer for the Design & Technology Faculty
- Football kit for Year 9 boys’ teams
- Balances and bell jar and vacuum pump for Science to support practical exam work
- An Ipad for Art
- Whiteboards and classroom resources for Business
School budgets are always under pressure and without the continued support of your donations, there is a danger that such activities and resources would be curtailed to the detriment of our students.
Donating is simple.
There is no set amount but as a guide we ask for £40.00 per child, which is less than 80 pence per week. You may, however, pay more or less if you wish. You may prefer to make a one-off contribution of £200.00 to cover the five years from Year 7 to Year 11.
Donations should now be made using the school’s online payments system – Scopay under Charities “2 Howard of Effingham School Donations”. If you already have an existing standing order to the Charitable Trust, please can this now be cancelled and future donations made using the online payment system instead. If you wish to donate by standing order please contact onlinepayments@thehoward.thpt.org.uk for further information.
If you pay UK income tax, the Trust will be able to reclaim Gift Aid. Please complete the Gift Aid Declaration in Scopay to allow this, which will enable the Trust to receive an additional 25p for every £1 you donate.
