Communicating with The Howard

TOP TIPS FOR COMMUNICATING WITH THE HOWARD

School life is very busy, and we are not always able to reply to emails straight away.  However, we will aim to respond to your email within 2 working days.

Parent meetings with staff are by appointment only, and normally require 2 working days' notice.  If you wish to speak to a member of staff in person, please contact them directly to book an appointment.

Our staff work very hard, and it is important that they are allowed to have a personal life as well.  We are also encouraging our staff to have a better work/life balance.  Therefore, please be aware that they are unlikely to look at emails before 7.30am and after 6.00pm during the week, and not at all at weekends or during holidays.

If you have a concern, it is always best to go to the Head of Department, Head of Faculty, Head of Year or relevant member of the Senior Leadership Team rather than directly to the teacher.  The concern can then be investigated and resolved for you.

Please copy info@thehoward.thpt.org.uk into the emails that you send.  This helps us to have an overview of what is happening across the school, and ensures that your concerns are addressed.

If you are upset by something which has happened at school and want to contact us to get the problem sorted out, we would ask that you 'count to 10' before writing and sending your email, and please make sure the tone and content of the email are professional and objective.  We understand that your child's education can be a highly emotional subject, but it is important that our staff do not receive any overly personal, accusatory, or aggressive emails.  These will be automatically forwarded to a member of the Senior Leadership Team.  The same applies to any face-to-face meetings and telephone calls:  we would ask that parents/carers remain professional and courteous at all times.  If you feel your concerns are not being addressed, please politely end the telephone call or meeting and escalate your concerns to the relevant line manager.

Our staff really do love getting positive feedback.  If there is something that a member of staff at The Howard has done which you are really happy with, please do let them know (hoethankstaff@thehoward.thpt.org.uk)
