Course Description:

 

The A Level consists of three units

 

Course Content 

Unit 1: Education with Theory and Methods in Context

Research Methods, Education and Application of Methods to Education Research

Unit 2: Topics in Sociology

Families in Households, Beliefs in Society 

Unit 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods

Crime and Deviance, Research Methods, Sociological Theory and Debates

Assessment Format

Three written papers - 2 hours each (each paper is 33.3% of the total A Level)

What can you do with an A Level or Degree in Sociology?

Sociology can lead to careers with GCHQ, the Civil Service, Social Services,  Teaching, Law and Journalism and various Graduate Training Schemes.
