Course Description:

This course consists of three Practical Assessed Pieces which are completed as part of your coursework. The theory consists of a final written examination.   

Course Content: 

Component 1: Performance and Choreography 

Component 2: Critical Engagement (Theory)

Assessment Format

Component 1: 50% of the course

• Performance : Solo and Quartet based on a Professional Practitioner 
• Choreography:  Students create their own choreographic piece based on a choice of stimulus set by the exam board.
• Externally Assessed by a visiting examiner in the second year of the course

Component 2: 50% of the course

• One compulsary area of study - Rambert Dance Company and 'Rooster' by Christopher Bruce
• One optional set work and one optional area of study
• Final written examination 2 hours and 30 minutes at the end of the second year

Course Entry Requirements:

GCSE grade 5 in English Language

GCSE grade 5 in Dance if taken

Previous practical dance experience in ballet or contemporary a necessity
