Religious Studies
Our Curriculum Intent
Religious Studies at the Howard aims to bring out the best by widening and deepening learners’ moral, social and spiritual worlds through exploring the six main world religions and contemporary philosophical and ethical issues.
Students at the Howard will have the opportunity to engage with a broad curriculum that builds a diverse perspective on the beliefs and practices within the world religions. Students will learn how religious leaders and others construct accounts about their religious experiences, and how these accounts influence religious people today. Students will be encouraged to think like philosophers using rational thinking skills to inform judgements and critically evaluate interpretations of traditional religious belief and practices.
Religious Studies at the Howard will enable students to formulate clear and coherent argument in written form and verbally and give students the skills and confidence they need to be the best they can be in understanding and commenting on the modern world and multi-faith society.
Students at the Howard will be able to learn from religions as well as learn about religions, to aid them in the journey of developing their own perspectives on contemporary philosophical and ethical issues.
