Media & Film Studies
Our Curriculum Intent
The Media and Film department achieve the Howard’s curriculum intent by:
- engaging students with the rich world of media and film from the past and present
- introducing students to a multi-cultural and diverse range of products, both print and moving image
- equipping students to become discerning consumers of the media around them, with them learning the skills to analyse key concepts such as representation, marketing and genre. In so doing, they will develop an understanding of the context in which media forms are both created and received
- enabling students to apply this knowledge to create exciting media products of their own
Those who study Media and / or Film will take with them a wide range of transferable skills for the contemporary world, both in the field of creativity and written analysis.
