Drama

Our Curriculum Intent

We will bring out the best by encouraging the student’s imagination and promoting empathy through practical tasks, group work and analysis of a variety of play text.  We will ensure our curriculum is broad and balanced by introducing a wide range and style of practitioners, different styles of theatre and performance elements.

Our schemes of work ranging from KS3 up to KS5 are inclusive and diverse.  They are written to allow all students to access.  We promote and encourage a wider understanding of community and culture preparing them to become fully rounded citizens who are ready for an increasingly globalised world.

Ambition and challenge in Drama are seen by encouraging students to be independent learners and take ownership of their creativity.  This is also seen with group work and driving towards the same goal of a successful performance piece.  Students will share ideas as well as listen, they learn to articulate their ideas into creative performances.

By the end of their school career our department aims for students to be successful and collaborative; happy, confident, and creative.
