CHEMISTRY

Course Description: 

 

Topics covered:

Chemistry of amino acids, proteins, DNA and enzymes, polymerization, industrial reactions and organic synthesis, chemistry of organic molecules, equilibrium and kinetics, advanced thermochemistry, chemistry of acids and bases, transition metals, electro-chemistry, analytical techniques and environmental chemistry

(20% of the content will involve chemical maths)

12 core/assessed practical activities

 

Assessment Format 

3 x written exam – total 6hrs (100% of qualification)

Additional practical endorsement at A-level (Pass/Fail)

Course Entry Requirements:

GCSE grade  6 in Combined Science / Chemistry 

GCSE grade 6 in Maths
